Rihanna kicked out of a mosque in Abu Dhabi for inappropriate behaviour

rihanna-4Throughout her career, Rihanna has proven to be far from conservative. But her latest stunt is even surprising for her. During her tour stop in Abu Dhabi, Rihanna visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and decided to pose for a few photos. Though she was fully covered in a jumpsuit and a hijab, she and her photographer were kicked out of the mosque for violating the sanctity of the site.

The mosque issued a public statement on Monday saying:

“The singer entered on a private visit without introducing herself and without prior coordination with the administration. She was asked to leave before entering the mosque after she posed in ways that do not match the sacred status.”

The mosque center also said they attempt to prohibit anyone who “fails to meet the standards of decency required to enter the mosque, such as by posing for inappropriate photographs or by sitting in disrespectful positions.”

Rihanna posted photos from the shoot and several folks have commented. Many are arguing that though Rihanna was covered, posing in a mosque kind of takes away from the holy atmosphere. After all, this is a place where people go to worship God, not celebrate the beauty and fashion sense of a pop star. I can see how it would be distracting to those going to worship or tour the site. Others Muslims have thanked Rihanna for showing respect by covering her head in front of the mosque.

And then as if the photos weren’t enough, the captions were certainly out of order. Check out the photos and the captions below:Screen-Shot-2013-10-21-at-9.35.37-AM“B!tch stole my look”
This caption though…Come on Ri Ri, you know better.

What do you think about Rihanna’s photo shoot, do you find it disrespectful? If there are any Muslim readers out there, feel free to weigh in.

Abeg make una free the girl…. She went for sight seeing and there’s nothing wrong with tryna keep the memories of places visited. After all people go to Rome,Brazil and France and pose for pics in those grand cathedrals. So much hyped for ‘religion’.

The bigots should instead have a no-picture policy like they do in the Sistine Chapel. Haba.

  4. I beg to differ, Kachi. I believe we should show respect to people and their religions, culture or whatever. Its all fine and good to disrespect when you do not share the beliefs of the people but I’m willing to bet if Rihanna posed innapropriately on, say the graveside of your loved one or revered one and put up a ‘cute’ caption you wouldn’t be quite so liberal. If she has a problem with respecting Islamic worship sites then she is under no obligation to visit such sites or even their country. She adds absolutely nothing of value there anyway. Then again, this woman isnt and has never been known for any sense of respect, restraint or indeed much intelligent behaviour as a whole. Yeeesh.

    • I’m with уσυ on tнιѕ, Sifa. Kachi, tнιѕ isn’t anything about hype on religion. Its simply about respect. Respect for tнaт which уσυ don’t understand but which other people hold sacrosanct. She went to sightsee, fine. Nobody would have begrudged her tнaт. But wнєη уσυ’яє now acting inappropriately in a place where people pray aηd worship, then уσυ deserve to be whipped.
Tнaт’ѕ right. Tнaт girl is begging to be whipped.

      • As far as I am concerned this type of thing is a mark of the last fumes of that magical ’15 minutes’ we are all entitled to. The crazier the behaviour, the closer one is to obscurity because such things reek of desperation. Ask Gaga. Ask Madonna. Ask Paris Hilton. And in two years you will ask Miley and Kim Kardashian. People who were the darlings of the news yesterday because of ‘scandal’ often find that they barely get a relevant mention today, or at best, a lukewarm one. No be today, please. News today, has-been tomorrow. Rihanna is taking this her ‘bad girl’ thing a little too far. She will soon find out that in the precise way she respects no-one and has no limit…a tired fan base can be just as flippant and fickle. She should take several seats, jor and take a lesson from her seniors like Mariah, Adele, late Whitney and other REAL divas. Please, mehn.

Bitch stole my look….What the hell is that supposed to mean? She thinks she’s in Los Angeles?. She’s lucky she was not arrested and even flogged. People will soon get tired of her sauciness anyways. …When your in Rome, behave like the Romans…it is that simple..

You people can all like to calm down. The chick was dressed very appropriately. Stop making noise abeg. If you say she is seeking attention, well, her gimmick has more than succeeded because we are all here tabling her matter.

Other than the lying down pose, I don’t think she is out of place.
