D’banj fails to impress concert goers in Zimbabwe

DSC_3114-600x398According to reports filtering out of Zimbabwe, D’banj flopped big time at a concert last weekend at the nation’s capital of Harare. The Nigerian superstar headlined the Lion Lager Summer Beer Festival on Saturday 26th October, but it seems some of his supporting acts out-did him.

According to Zimbabwe Newsday:

Nigerian musician D’banj, born Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo, proved more of a studio than stage musician as he failed to perform to expectations for hundreds of Zimbabweans who thronged the Glamis Arena for the Lion Lager Summer Beer Festival on Saturday night. The ‘Fall In Love’ hitmaker spent much of his time speaking about how Zimbabwean ladies were good at waist-twisting. D’banj went on to invite 10 ladies, one at a time to join him on stage.

Regardless of some of his tracks such as Fall In Love, Pop Something, Why Me, Mr Endowed and Oliver Twist being popular in the country, as they receive massive airplay on local radio stations and rock night clubs, the night belonged to his visiting counterpart, Ugandan ragga musician, Bebe Cool.

Zimbabwean blogger Victoria also writes about D’banj’s subpar performance, saying:

Many bloggers, news sites and revelers blasted D’banj for his poor deliverance. It seemed he was more interested in Zimbabwean girls (or Kokolets as he chose to call them) than anything. A source, who is a taxi driver at Crown Plaza Hotel where the two artistes lodged, confirmed that he had a good time with the ladies of the night during his stay at the hotel.

Lol. Nawa oh. Oga Kokomaster, you need to buckle up oh. See PSquare for pointers. They seem to be doing very well on the international playing field.
