Rihanna slammed by fans for her not-so-nice comment about the Dominican Republic

1rihanna_635x250_1384549857The problem with social media is that it sometimes enables us to speak before we fully give our brains time to process what we’re saying. In no time, a silly, insensitive or unintentionally rude comment can go viral in a matter of minutes. Just ask Rihanna.

The “Diamonds” singer was spending some time in the Dominican Republic, when she took to Twitter to complain about her hotel having roaches. While it seems perfectly reasonable for someone to complain about their luxury hotel being infested with roaches, the outspoken songstress went on to imply that the room was infested with bugs because she was in the Dominican Republic. See her tweet below.Screen_20131101_213750

While some people found RiRi’s comments to be harmless and even hilarious, others quickly took offense.

“You used the wrong preposition and verb tense. Before criticizing the #DR you should improve your grammar skills,” one fan tweeted.

“Listen b***h the only roach on punta cana is you. Maybe you shouldn’t be smoking weed to imagine big roaches. Get thef**kout,” another added.

“In Barbados you Didn’t get tired about roaches … Only in DR PLEASE…. Everywhere you can find a roach … IDIOT,” someone else chimed in.

Ouch! Brutal.

Even NBC Latino, radio host Álvaro Arvelo addressed the singer’s roach comment, expressing that Rihanna was “full of hot air.”

As a person who has a low tolerance for bugs, I get it, but most would probably agree that her  “only in DR” comment was uncalled for.

Do you think Rihanna’s comments were offensive?

  2. I’d say don’t take the person who made the comment seriously at all. Rihanna isnt well known for having any mental or verbal filters or much use of her faculties anyway.

  3. Where’s she from? Some other island, clearly devoid of roaches … jajaja.
