‘Giving comes from the heart’: Kim Kardashian defends donating only 10 per cent of proceeds from eBay auction to Philippines typhoon charity

article-2521509-1A02AB9000000578-247_634x541Kim Kardashian was heavily criticised her for donating just 10 per cent of her eBay Giving Works auction profits to victims of the recent typhoon in the Philippines. (Read the story HERE)

And now, she’s hitting back at her haters. Taking to her website on Monday to set the record straight, the reality TV star went to great lengths to defend her charitable donation, slamming her detractors for questioning her.

‘I feel compelled to speak about something that is in my head and my heart,’ she began her blog post, which was titled Giving Comes From The Heart. ‘Over the years, I’ve had to grow a thick skin. Being in the public eye, there are times I feel like I get criticized for any and everything I do. I’m used to it now. I just choose not to feed into negativity or become consumed by it. The problem comes in when I get attacked for giving and trying to help people.’

The star revealed that her late father, Robert Kardashian, ‘always taught me the importance of giving back’ and it’s a lesson she has kept with her all these years, whether the public is aware of her charitable deeds or not.

‘I don’t publicize everything I do to help charities and people all over the world I do it because I want to. I do because my dad taught me to. I do it because it’s the right thing to do. So for people to attack me for giving 10% of my eBay auction sales to the people of the Philippines, that hurts.

‘I do eBay auctions monthly and change the charity or church from time to time. I give 10% of all my earnings to charities, not just these eBay auctions. This month it’s for the people of the Philippines, last month was Life Change Community Church.’

With the star said to be worth as much as $40 million, certainly 10 per cent of her auction profits doesn’t sounds like a hefty sum, though it’s a darn sight more than most will ever donate in their lifetime.

But not only does the mom-of-one donate 10 per cent of her eBay auctions to charity, she reportedly also donates 10 per cent of her earnings from every single endorsement deal.

‘Nobody has to give anything, and yet Kim gives 10 per cent of everything and now she is being judged for it,’ her rep states.

I am gobsmacked! Kimmie, why do you even bother? If you want to be charitable, then BE charitable. Its not like she cannot afford to give more, am pretty certain she’s doing this against her will, maybe her publicist has something to do with this.

Her publicist advised it or not, at least she’s giving something and changing lives. I don’t understand why someone who probably doesn’t even give twenty naira to a beggar in front of his church would talk about someone giving in hundreds of thousands of dollars. It is her money. She does what she wants with it. If you don’t like it, try dying.

@Marthy. You really need to grow up and learn to respect other peoples’ opinions on social media. You don’t have to accept it, everyone has differing views. Moreso, its really low of you to condescend to the point of saying someone should kiss the dust because they aired their views. Well, i’ll not stoop to your level not cos I cannot, but rather I choose not to. You really need to learn that firsthand.

PS: I am a VERY charitable person when I choose to be, don’t even doubt that for a second.

Excuse you? I don’t see you respecting my opinion cos I don’t know who the fuck you are. And if you’re in that group of twerps who find it right to lampoon celebrities for every twitch their eyes make I don’t see how much lowlier you can be. You’re not respecting their opinions either. Hey Blondashian! You place an auction your properties and state that the profits will go to charity, this means that people will rush those properties so as to generate funds for those it in need of it. Turning around to say you’re only donating only 10% is cruelly playing on people’s kindness. That’s so wrong. Nne, have a sit.

    • That, right there, is the issue people have with her charity. The fact that she’s holding back so much when high sales are guaranteed becos buyers naturally assume ALL the proceeds aяє going to charity.
