The Healing Power of Love: Pope Francis blesses man with disfigured face

Pope Francis - General Audience - Nov. 20 2013While many spiritual leaders preach the importance of compassion, Pope Francis gives us all yet another example of what it really looks like to live a compassionate and caring life.

Just weeks after a photo of him kissing a man with a rare skin disorder moved many to tears, another picture was taken showing the pope embracing a man with a severely disfigured face.

The Pope spoke to him and blessed him after his general audience in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican on Wednesday, Nov. 20. At the end of each general audience, the Pope usually dedicates some time to greeting the sick and disabled people that come to meet him. Another picture below.Vatican Pope

Vinicio Riva, the man with neurofibromatosis, told the media that he “felt only love” as the Pope embraced him.

The Pope encouraged all people to take care of the needy in a tweet earlier this week:

@Pontifex: Take care of God’s creation. But above all, take care of people in need.

Love isn’t a feeling, it’s an action. And this is what it looks like.

Jeez! See as this poor man face be? Grotesque! Like something from an horror movie but yet so real. Caucasians and their many strange ailments, and he can still see and breathe? As I no see anything wey resemble nose for here. Truly, love’s an action as demonstrated here by the Pope.

    • To be honest, I couldn’t possibly hug such an afflicted fellow. Lord, forgive me.

LMAO! Afraid you’d catch the bug eh? The Pope’s real gutsy o, I’d literally have nightmares for a very long while if I even attempt to see him face to face, talkless of hugging him. I give it to the Pope though, he’s really humane. That’s no easy feat.

      • Is it any wonder he beat Miley Cyrus to Time’s Person Of The Year? I don’t see her hugging any boogie-woogie fellows lately, do уσυ?

ROTFLMAO! Walter, you no serious o. Boogie-woogie fellow? Oh my word! I guess rather than for Miley to hug him, she’d rather go nude or ‘twerk’ for his viewing pleasure, from like a thousand miles away, without really having to come any close.
