Julia Roberts’ late half-sister Nancy Motes reportedly left a ”ranting” suicide note which claimed the actress ”drove her” to her death.
Nancy Motes – who had a difficult relationship with the Oscar-winning star – was found dead on Sunday (09.02.14) and insiders investigating her passing say she ‘definitely’ took her own life. A source told the New York Daily News newspaper:
”It was definitely a suicide. She left a five-page suicide letter. The EMT found it. There were three pages of rantings that her sister drove her to do this. There was one page to her mom, telling her how much she loved her, and one page apologising to [her fiancé John Dilbeck].”
Nancy – the daughter of Julia’s mother, Betty Lou, and stepfather, Michael Motes – was found by her fiancé in the bathtub of a Los Angeles’ house she was pet-sitting at and her body may have lain undiscovered for up to 12 hours.
The source added: ”It looks like a pill overdose.”
Before her death, Nancy made a series of tweets attacking her famous relative, who she fell out with last summer after giving a tell-all interview. In one post last month, she wrote: ”So my ‘sister’ said that with all her friends & fans she doesn’t need any more love. Just so you all know ‘America’s Sweetheart’ is a Bitch!!”
And a later tweet read: ”Do you want to be a fan of someone so cruel? She’s not even that good of an actress. Happy you totally fucked with me?”
The messages have now been removed from the social networking site.
In August, Motes gave an interview claiming Roberts, 46, criticised her appearance as a teen. ‘When I was in high school and she was an adult, she would just let me know that I was definitely overweight,’ Motes revealed. ‘It just makes me feel incredibly hurt and very sad.’
Coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter confirmed there was a suicide note found but said he didn’t believe it ran to eight pages. An autopsy was completed yesterday (11.02.14), but the cause of death has been deferred until additional toxicology tests are carried out.

Our state of wellbeing shouldn’t be determined by or hinged on any human being, that’s just setting oneself up for disaster. Worthy of note’s also the fact that Julia’s brother, Eric Roberts accused her of same, a long while back calling her a b…h, who’s so self-absorbed and unloving towards her siblings. Thought he was just being spiteful and bitter at the time cos his career took a dive and a turn for the worse before practically slipping into oblivion. Right now, not so sure. It’ll be very disheartening if Julia’s really what her siblings say she is.

She has her fiancee, her mother, her friends. Why then does she need Julia’s approval to move on with life? Did she or Eric give Julia what she has today? No they did not. Julia worked hard to get to where she is, taking your own life and then blaming it on her is just way too petty. I have zero tolerance for most people who commit suicide. They think they are the only one with battles? To then think your reason to take your life is because your sister allegedly called you fat? OK now you’re dead, who is going to defend your own position? There are so many siblings with extremely normal relatives and you don’t see them taking their lives.
You gave a tell all interview without the consent of your sister. She then refuses to have anything to do with you and taking your own life is the solution? You started cooking in the kitchen and now could not stand the heat.

/ February 12, 2014He’s right though. It’s a little selfish and pathetic to hinge your existence on someone else. Life is unfair, no doubt about that. But one shouldn’t give someone else the prerogative over his or her life. She didn’t like you, she maltreated you, fine! Dont get sad. Get Mad! And change something about your own life. I mean, how misplaced can the anger be, that you were able to summon it to rant in a suicide note, and then kill yourself, but you couldn’t use it to work at your life.
It wasn’t as though she was lonely. She had a man who apparently loved her well enough to want to marry her. And she couldn’t see that, so focused was she on her bitterness. #shakingmyhead# It’s really sad. Her entire existence came down to a few things, it would seem. A note and a lingering echo of a wound that never healed.
