The Things They Say…about the centenary celebrations

Marketing-the-Nigeria-CenteFormer Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar says the centenary celebration currently going on in Abuja to mark the 100 years of Nigeria’s Amalgamation is disrespectful to the memory of the recently murdered FGC students in Yobe State. His tweets below…012

Meanwhile the families of late Fela Anikulapo Kuti and Chief Gani Fawehinmi rejected the posthumous awards the Federal Government had to bestow on both Gani and Fela at the Centenary Awards.

The Fawehinmi family said nominating their father in the same category with former Military Head of State, General Gbadamosi Babangida and the recent killing of students in Yobe state are their reasons for turning down the award.

Femi Kuti, who spoke on behalf of the Kuti Family, said they have not yet received any apologies from the government for the burning of the Kalakuta Republic in 1977 and also for the killing of his grandmother, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti and so cannot receive the award.

Shuo! Na which kain rugbarugba be dis na? Babangida was nominated alongside ‘the’ Gani Fawehinmi??? What an affront! What can fa? Whose ‘bright’ idea was that? In an ideal society, Babangida should be languishing behind bars but in my beloved country, the ‘evil genius’ and tyrant is being considered for an award. Typical! How very rich! Mtchewwww!

And Atiku should just zip it! He probably thinks folks are none the wiser. We see what you’re trying to do here, Mister and you don’t fool us! Your records are not squeaky clean. If memory serves me correctly, he promised he’d make the country ungovernable for Jonathan. So far, so good; he’s more than delivering on that promise. Dunno why he’s suddenly crying wolf. No lele, wetin we eye no see, God dey; dey see. That’s my only consolation. Psst!
