An acquaintance who would rather remain anonymous talks about his battle for the acceptance of his sexuality, and his determination not to let the anti-gay law get to him.

The thing most Nigerians forget is that the LGBT community is made up of real people, individuals who not only have to deal with career choices and familial responsibilities and day-to-day decision making, but also have to deal with the struggles of what it means to be different in terms of their sexualities. Nigerian Government’s Website Hacked by Irish Gay Activist; His Ultimatum? 72 Hours For FG To Renounce Anti-Gay Bill

hackedAccording to Premium Times, an Irish hacker who goes by the moniker ‘Paddyhack’ has conducted a cyber attack on the official government of Nigeria’s website. The ‘assault’ was apparently aimed at making President Jonathan to veto the bill which makes homosexuals in Nigeria subject to imprisonment. The website was attacked on Thursday night; though things were later restored, it remains unknown if it were the officials that took matters in their hands, or the attackers who stepped back.

In his address to Nigerians, the Irish hacker said thus:

“Nobody should live in fear of being jailed, when their only action is loving another consenting adult, regardless of gender.” (more…)
