I hate crossing major roads using the overhead bridges. I can’t say why.
Perhaps it has something to do with the tediousness of trudging up the staircase, commingling with the rest of the unwashed masses moving up and down. Or perhaps it’s the feeling of weightlessness I get as I walk across the bridge at the top, knowing that I’m hovering over a million cars speeding by below, wondering if some freak act of Nature – or a Boko-Haram fanatic – may occur at that moment to send the bridge and the pedestrians on it hurtling down to their deaths. Or maybe it’s the thrill, that heady rush, that tug of impatience I get when I choose to dash across the highway instead, darting through gaps created by traffic, knowing that death could be just a hair’s breadth away and enjoying the feeling of beating it when I make it to the other side.

Jennifer Lopez looked stunning at the Las Vegas premiere of her new drama-thriller ‘Parker’ on Thursday evening (January 24, 2013). She wore a figure-hugging white gown, which looked fairly innocuous at first glance, though the sheer side panels gave the game away – Lopez was indeed wearing no underwear. Still, the R&B star and former American Idol judge looked pretty elegant, accentuating her signature curves while beaming for the cameras.

There are no easy routes to success, they say. There’s no way else to describe how far Nollywood’s latest leading man, Joseph Benjamin, has come from a past we could never imagine he had. Currently, the Kogi State-born actor is one of the most attractive faces in Nollywood and has charmed his way into the hearts of many with his good looks and acting skills, making it an undeniable fact that he has earned himself a star status in the Nigerian film industry. However, it was his role as co-presenter in MTN Project Fame West Africa which shone the spotlight on Benjamin.

It has been said that 2013 is the year of Beyoncé, what with her huge million-dollar endorsement deal with Pepsi, her Super Bowl performance scheduled in February, her upcoming hotly-anticipated album and her reunion with Destiny’s Child. Her performance of the United States national anthem at President Obama’s inaugural ball was one of such iconic moments that was to define the year for her. But with all the furor surrounding the issue of her miming the anthem – or not miming it, as I can’t quite figure out whom to believe – the year is indeed starting out quite bleakly.
