Wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson has been named the top-grossing actor of 2013.
The action star has made his way to the top of Forbes magazine’s new list, thanks to his multiple blockbuster films over the past year.
Most notably, Johnson’s car-racing film Fast & Furious 6 earned $789 million (£526 million) worldwide. Together with G.I. Joe: Retaliation and two smaller films, he racked up $1.3 billion at the global box office. (more…)

Marvel Studios has ”no plans” for an ‘X-Men’ and ‘Avengers Assemble’ crossover movie.
Although President of Production Kevin Feige thinks the idea – championed by ‘Wolverine’ star Hugh Jackman, who wants to team up with Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man – would be ”fun”, it isn’t on their radar for the immediate future.
Speaking during a Jameson’s Done In 60 Seconds Google Hangout online Q&A for Empire magazine, Feige said: ”There’s certainly no plans right now. Enough amazing things have happened in the 13 years that I’ve been at Marvel, I never say never to things like that. But I don’t think it’ll be any time soon.
”’The Avengers’ have so many stories to tell. It’s not like creatively we need or want to include the X-Men, but as a fan I think it would be fun. It’s Phase 27!”

Robert Downey Jr. has been named the Most Valuable Star of 2013.
The ‘Iron Man 3’ actor topped Vulture’s annual Hollywood list for the second time, with Leonardo DiCaprio coming in second and labelled ”The Star Who Started Smiling Again” and ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ actress Jennifer Lawrence – ”The Breakthrough BFF” – in third place.
The publication compile their list based on several criteria, including a star’s box office power – domestic and overseas – awareness and popularity, the value they bring to a production studio, likeability, Oscar mentions, Twitter and tabloid mentions and critics score. (more…)

Robert Downey Jr. has topped Forbes’ list of highest paid entertainers. He is joined by Channing Tatum in second place and Hugh Jackman in third. The list compares the salaries of actors by contacting agents, producers and managers to create a rough estimation of entertainer’s yearly salaries (this list for the salary between June 2012 and June 2013).
Robert Downey Jr. earned more than any other Hollywood actor in the last 12 months, according to a list compiled by Forbes. The ‘Iron Man’ star had an estimated salary of $75 million in earnings. He is described by Forbes as a ‘hit machine’. They continue to explain his vast earnings: “He’s starred in six movies that have each grossed over $500 million at the box office worldwide”. The two superhero films in which he starred over the last year, named The Avengers and Iron Man 3, each grossed over $1 billion. With figures like this, Downey Jr.’s salary pales in comparison, despite being a ridiculously large sum. (more…)

Marvel is reportedly in tense negotiations with the cast of ‘The Avengers 2’.
The Disney-owned movie studio has yet to secure key actors including Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth for the sequel to last year’s smash hit superhero blockbuster – which grossed $1.5 billion worldwide – as they are hoping to land big money deals, reports Deadline.
‘Iron Man 3’ star Downey recently confirmed he was paid $50 million, consisting of an upfront payment and a percentage of the film’s box office profits, for ‘The Avengers’ and is now reportedly spearheading efforts for his cast mates to negotiate better deals for the follow-up film after some of them received just $200,000 for the first flick.
