Forbes releases World’s Most Powerful list, and Obama is NOT number 1

Untitled1Forbes has released its World’s Most Powerful People list and put Russian president Vladamir Putin ahead of US president Barack Obama. That’s wack! Dangote also made the list at number 64, whereas President Goodluck Jonathan didn’t. That’s just sad. See the remainder of the list after the cut. (more…)

Against The Tide (Episode 2)

The next day went on as usual except that I noticed she was more relaxed around me and had less of the guarded air she normally had. I could swear she flushed every time our eyes met. I really wanted to find a way to spend unofficial time with her but couldn’t seem to find the appropriate time or place to ask her out. But things took an interesting turn when one day, she did the inviting.

“Er…I’m going to a small place with a few friends where the greatest roasted fish in town is sold. Would you like to come? It’s tomorrow, by 8 or so.”

We had just closed for the weekend and everyone in the office was preparing to go home. I looked up at her and she stood with a carefully blank expression on her face.

“Roasted, is it? I recall the last time I had something ‘roasted’ from you. My throat is still recuperating from third degree burns. I don’t think I trust you.”

She stifled a giggle. “Haba, sir, how can you not trust me? Okay, I promise I’ll make it up to you. I’ll tell them not to put too much pepper this time.”

There was silence, she standing there waiting for an answer, me thinking about her invitation. (more…)

‘If you keep doing that stuff, people will turn on you.’: Mike Tyson’s advice to Chris Brown

rs_560x415-131029151943-1024.Mike-Tyson-Chris-Brown-jmd-102913_copyChris Brown caught a major break yesterday when his felony assault charge for that confusing scuffle in front of a DC hotel was lowered to a misdemeanor. As he walked out of jail, greeting his fans, you could look at his tired face and see the weight of the world on him. Mike Tyson knows what that’s like. The former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world wasn’t just in the news for his boxing talents back in the day, but his rape charge and conviction, biting Evander Holyfield’s ear, beating on Robin Givens and more controversial things that made him something of a villain in the media. Seeing the struggles that Brown is currently dealing with, along with the accusations of violence that he’s dealt with in the last few years, from his own experience, Tyson says he just wants to see Brown get it together and win.

Here’s what he said in an interview with the 95.5 PLJ Morning Show via TMZ. (more…)

Kanye West defends his infamous interruption of Taylor Swift’s MTV VMAs acceptance speech

Kanye-West-fashion-black-in-Paris1Kanye West is still refusing to out-and-out apologise for his stage invasion at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, insisting he still thinks Beyoncé should have won the prize for Female Video of the Year at the prizegiving.

The rapper interrupted winner Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech and took the mic from her to make his feelings known before handing it back to the stunned country music star and returning to his seat in the audience. West has since apologised to Swift for ruining her first VMAs win, but he still insists he did the right thing.

Speaking to Los Angeles DJ Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday morning, defiant West recalled the moment that has lived on in infamy and stated: (more…)

Best photobomb ever! Beyoncé stops singing to join a delighted fan’s selfie midway through concert

article-2479008-190F3A6D00000578-682_634x629This is one selfie that’s going to get a lot of ‘likes’.

A lucky fan was photobombed by Beyoncé as she posed for a picture during her concert in Australia last week.

Having made her way to the front of the stage, the 15-year-old turned her back to snap the moment. Just as she did so, Beyoncé spotted the camera and leaned in with a grin to make it a picture to treasure. (more…)
